Meet Sarah

Commercial Director

Sarah brings an outstanding track record of identifying, developing and making deals across the energy industry for nearly 25 years. She has long specialised in ‘non-standard’ complex value chain infrastructure deals which need to be bankable – and are at the heart of making CCS projects happen.

Following the first half of her career in a range of upstream roles at BP, she has successfully founded a number of consultancies in CSR and energy transition, and most recently Sarah worked with Hamish to successfully found Lapis Energy in the US.

Sarah is passionate about structuring sustainable commercial arrangements between host governments, emitters and carbon transporters and storers to make CCS projects investable, bankable and real.

Sarah holds a BSc Hons in Economics & Politics from the University of Bath.

Meet Martin

Risk Expert

Martin brings 20 years of financial risk management skills to the team, secured in energy and agricultural commodity trading sectors.  Previously he gained extensive international experience in a range of major oil company roles from upstream exploration through commercial gas to New Business development.  He has risk-managed green energy portfolios since 2001.  Martin is recognised as a specialist in large scale breakthrough project design and execution, incorporating IT systems and process change.

Martin holds a BSc in Geology from Sheffield and an MBA from Reading.

Meet Glen

Chairman

Glen has worked in the upstream energy sector for 40 years.

He served as Upstream Director of Shell UK and Ireland from 2010 to 2015, prior to which he was VP for Development, supporting new business and petroleum engineering as Group Chief Petroleum Engineer. His career began with Exxon in the UK North Sea, where huge offshore developments transformed the UK and Norway, and went on to span the globe.

Having participated in and led some of the world’s most impactful energy projects, Glen is passionate about and committed to mitigating climate change through the prism of business-driven opportunity: integrating novel technology, expertise and knowledge to find practical solutions for a safe and affordable net-zero future.

Glen holds degrees in Geology and Petroleum Studies from Liverpool and Aberdeen Universities.

Meet Angus

Subsurface Analyst

Angus brings fresh knowledge of CO2 storage techniques and skills in Geographical Information Systems (GIS).

Within Azuli, Angus' principal responsibility combines these attributes with his analytical skills to feed data to the team that enable critical decision making, project development and, crucially, industrial decarbonisation through permanent CO2 sequestration.

Angus holds a first-class Geoscience degree from the University of Edinburgh and is a Fellow of the Geological Society of London.

Meet Brian

Technical Director - UK Lead

Brian is a chartered geologist and has spent more than 40 years in the energy business with BP, Statoil, and BG, as General Manager and Exploration Director.

The wealth of knowledge he has gained in upstream international operations is relevant and readily applicable to the carbon capture and storage (CCS) industry, to deliver a net-zero future. Brian is actively applying his play-based exploration experience to identify and develop the best potential carbon sinks for Carbon Capture and Storage, adjacent to major industrial carbon emitters. In the short term this provides the potential to abate emissions while the world transitions from fossil to renewable fuels.

Brian holds an MSc in Petroleum Geology, from Imperial College, London.

Meet Ralph
